Slumberland is reissuing Sound of the Westway, the debut LP from '80s Swiss post-punk girl group Chin Chin. The record, which came out in 1985 and has been out of print for years, will be released on vinyl only with "new mastering and artwork" by the label (in conjunction with Mississippi Records) on April 13. Here's Westway's sweetly melodic, C86-leaning opening jam, "Dark Days":

Just a heads up to let you know that the 2009 self-titled debut EP from Virginia's Eternal Summers -- one of last year's best -- is now available on 10" vinyl from Chimney Sweep Records. I was lucky enough to snag a copy of the 10" at SXSW, and can confirm that the duo's hazy, heartfelt "dream punk" sounds even better on glorious heavy duty vinyl. Katy of Vivian Girls just sent over this infectious springtime jam by her new group with Gregg Foreman of Cat Power, All Saints Day. On "It'll Come Around," the unexpected duo rip through a fuzz-laden beach backdrop, with Katy's recognizable vocals soaring above the noise. I assume this will be out sooner or later on the Girls' own Wild World Records. Looking forward to hearing what these two come up with next:

We've got some big things planned for the label's very near future, and we couldn't be more excited about our debut release, which is also the first-ever release from mysterious duo Cults, featuring the much-loved, sunny 60's-pop-inspired instant summer anthem "Go Outside," backed with the equally infectious "Most Wanted" on the b-side. The 7" single, which is limited to 400 copies pressed on bright yellow vinyl, is officially out on April 20, but you can pre-order it here now.

mp3: new Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti | "Round and Round"

As previously reported, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti recently signed with 4AD for the release of their next full-length, due sometime this spring. On lead single "Round and Round," a newly focused/evolved Ariel Pink conjures the kind of genuine nostalgia and longing that was hinted at on brilliant '08 single "Can't Hear My Eyes." This one, though, is elevated by a chorus that may be the best thing he's ever written: unabashedly sentimental, pure '70s AM-radio gold that easily transcends the lo-fi tag that Pink is apparently trying to shed with the release of this new record. An early frontrunner for song of the year:
